If you mean by pruning into a standard, you can, but will require consistent pruning back throughout the year. As soon as you see new growth further down, you need to remove them.
I have a large standard photinia red robin which is about 10 years old. It has been covered in flowers during the winter but I have no new shoots & old leaves are just hanging down & looks as though it’s dying. Any suggestions? Should I give it a hard prune?
