Campsis not shooting

Hello. I have (had!) a wonderful enormous campsis covering one of our walls that the previous owner of our home planted. We know that it is at least 16 years old. This year it doesn't seem to be sprouting as it usually does at this time of year. I can't see any new leaf sprouts on any part of its massive frame. I don't think it's dead, as I can see there are little sprouts appearing from its base (and elsewhere in our drive -- this is usual!) but there's no sign of any green anywhere else. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, and if there's something I can do to help. Thanks!

Patience.   Here in the Vendée and near the coast, so mild, we're ahead of the UK and ours has only shown new leaves in the last 10 days and they have not done much over the last few cold and windy days.

Hi. Thank you so much for replying and sharing this information. I feel much better now! I will try to be patient. I know it is usually quite a bit behind other plants in my garden, but I suppose my real worry is that our other campsis (different name) has been going great guns for weeks and is full of leaves...but it could just be that they are different types. Thank you again -- I'll just wait with fingers crossed and see what happens!
