Deutzia in its element

I tend to dismiss Deutzia as a boring twiggy shrub that doesn't look good enough when not in flower. But growing in woodland at Bestwood Lodge, it looks right at home and I'm surprised how happy it is with the shady dry conditions beneath mature trees.
