What are these purple plants in Monty's garden?

    I had a lot in my garden, though I dug them up and planted them in my allotment.

    For a small garden the leaves soon become overgrown and they only flower for a very short time.

    I saw them in a catalogue and bought some, worse luck, you live and learn!

    I think they look better naturalised than formal and they certainly need somewhere where their leaves can have time to feed the bulbs as they go over so best somewhere where grass or other plants grow up to disguise the foliage.
