Is this the tree’s first spring with you?  Some varieties of acer/maple have very bright colouration in the spring and the colour becomes ‘quieter’ as the season wears on.

The limp leaves could be due to drying winds, but I’d give it a couple of buckets full of water to be on the safe side ... the result of a drought last summer and a dry winter and spring is that the ground a few inches below the surface is very dry in many places.

Thanks, I planted it at the end of last summer. Should I  stick a hose pipe on it for a while.

How long for as I am worried of over watering

Depends how hard the tap is turned on ... to be honest it’s hard to over water a tree that’s planted in the ground ... but I’d give it the equivalent of a couple of buckets today and again in three days’ time and the same twice a week through spring and summer unless there’s heavy rain.
