First season dahlia

Hiya I've potted up some tubers of Bishop of Llandaff 8 in total with various difference in growth. The ones that have grown about a foot do they need pinching out. There's 3 thats a lot taller as they probably got more light

    I’m not sure what is correct but I’ve cut the middles right out of mine and taken all the buds off.

    Last year’s tubers overwintered in newspaper. They will go in the ground in June and stay there, it’s only new ones I grow on in pots for the first year.

    Another probably silly question for ya. When it says pinching out do they have to be pinched out to create a partially crushed stem of can they be clean cut with scissors, can't spell secaturs ☺

    Cut it if you want too.   I do either, depends if I’ve been naughty and chewed my finger or thumb nail too low🥺
