Bulbs not doing well?

debs64debs64 Posts: 5,184
Hi all I decided this is the year for bulbs. Bought acidanthera and spider lilies, amongst others, planted up about 6 weeks ago, nothing! No sign of life at all. Checked acidanthera, not rotten just exactly as they were when planted, spider lilies just sitting there with their noses out of the soil doing nothing! My irises and lillies are all doing well so what am I doing wrong?

Its still cold, I think when the weather warms they will shoot up.  Maybe you planted them a bit early. Give them some more time, don’t give up yet.

Acidanthera don't do their thing till late summer/early autumn so you need patience for those to get going and spider lilies like it to be a bit warmer.  I wouldn't worry about them for at least another 6 weeks.

Thanks both will try to be patient, move pots to a sheltered spot in the sunshine and look forward to a nice surprise when they do flower.
