Can anyone recommend a cost efficient supplier in the London area?

Are you looking to buy a couple of bags or a couple of tons?

Almost every garden centre sells several types of JI under a variety of different brand names.

John Innes is not itself a brand name, but a recipe. More info here. It is available in several mixes for different types of plants/conditions.

You need to know what you want it for: seed sowing, potting on or as a long term growth medium. That will determine what type of JI. you require.

  • Many thanks. Looking for a bulk buy of no 2 and 3. Maybe 40 bags?

For the last 3 years I've bought manure of different flavours from CPA Horticulture and been pleased with all of them. I also had 25 ton topsoil from them which was very good. I've not bought JI from them.

They do sell JI1, JI2 & JI3 in 40 bag loads and afaik they deliver Nationwide. Delivery is on a non-returnable pallet.
Details here The last paragraph mentions they can also supply JI1/JI2 on the same terms
