Sounds like my life at present AnniD, very slow and mostly a blur Maybe I just had robins on my mind, was watching 'my' robin courting his lady with some nice juicy bugs this afternoon. I probably just transferred but good to know I wasn't dreaming!
Never mind the blackbird I swear I saw the robin fly into the potting shed behind Monty while he was taking his hydrangea cuttings. Time for another clutch obviously
I saw it also, though thought it was a barn swallow! Might be my mind playing tricks though because if we leave a shed door open here, it will be a barn swallow that will investigate it as a potential nest site. More than one year we've ended up leaving the shed door open all summer, as once they start, have not got the heart to shut the door on them.
I wanted to ask that chap gardening in the Yorkshire Dales why he was cultivating about 17,000 garlic cloves.
'cos you can never have too much garlic, when you think you have enough, plant more.
.
What! some of the old blokes on our plots are pleading with anyone to take them off their hands most seasons along with Jerusalem Artichokes, never understand why they grow them in the first place!
@Busy-Lizzie I'm sure I read somewhere that monty is quite an expert at preserving in almost anyway possible his produce, though I think he must have quite a glut at times.
We all have our own styles and preferences but gardening meets Scrapheap Challenge is not for me. Being inventive by recycling things is very laudable but I like to put stronger emphasis on aesthetics in my garden.

Really? With a son who is a chef and the fact they are easy to store, could never grow too much garlic, went through 5 green bulbs that were not perfect for drying this week.
I thought the trampolene was a lot better recycled as a rose arch and fruit cage. Once the plants grow it will be all but invisible and free to boot!
I suspect Monty eats a lot of veg and salad and he does have a couple of lady helpers in his garden and expect they get some of the produce too. As I recall, he has hens somewhere and they'll eat up all sorts of veggies leaving just the juiciest tender bits for Monty and co.
Preserved or frozen garlic, tomatoes, other veggies make great prezzies too.

I thought GW was excellent on Friday. In fact, I think that the lockdown episodes are better than usual. I was amazed by the foot gardening lady.
