When will grass seed thicken up?

Have grown some seed in areas that have no grass.. Does it eventually grow sideways and thicken up?

Looking at it now the new grass is about 3cm high and just wondering when to cut and if it will eventually spread out and thicken?

Thanks

Yes it’ll grow sideways as it grows ... it’s called ‘tillering’  ... not all of this is applicable to lawns, but some of it is http://www.britishgrassland.com/system/files/how%20grass%20grows%20final%202.pdf

The grass growth will speed up when the temperatures pick up Brrrr! 🥶

Thanks for that.. Could you recommend? a grass seed fertiliser to help boost and help its growth.

    Thank you :)

You don’t really want to boost growth just yet ... it will produce lush soft growth that would be damaged should we get a frost, and we’re not past the time for frosts just yet.

Just be patient and wait for warmer weather. 😊
