Where to site a greenhouse

just moved to new bungalow and I’m sorting out the garden, I’ve not had a greenhouse, does it need full sun all day.

What are you planning on growing in there? Full sun gives you the best range of growing options as you can always shade sun out but you can't add it unless you want to run grow lights.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Thanks for your replies. Not sure yet but definitely tomatoes and plants for the garden. I moved here in late October 2019 and I’m just trying to reorder the garden, it’s a corner plot and I’m planning veg at the back in raised beds and a flower garden to the side. I have builders in next week to build greenhouse, shed, move a fence and raised beds, it’s so hard to decide where to put stuff.
the back garden is south facing and has sun all day, so do I point the greenhouse to the east?

I think the norm is run the ridge North / South ( sorry @philippa smith2) so the sun shines on the east side in the morning, down the whole length at mid day and on the west side in the evening.
Very often the site determines where it has to go unless you have lots of room.
    Devon.

I have one greenhouse sited N-S and the other E-W and I've not noticed any difference.  As said above, the more sun the better, regardless of orientation.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks for your help, I had two places picked out and will place it so that the ridge will be east, problem solved I can now draw up another plan and stick to it, can’t wait to get in there!
