Pieris forest flame

My peiris bush is about 20 years + old. It’s always looked very bushy but lately it’s started to look bare. In March it did the usual new leaves and turned beautifully red then, the red leaves shrivelled and went brown as you can see in the picture. Is it dying or will it bounce back, what can I do? Can anyone shed any light please. Thank you
