ID sweet smelling viburnum like plant

This flowers early, lovely white globes of almost waxy like flowers and smells divine.  Looks a little like a Wayfaring tree so assume it's a Viburnum, but that's purely a guess on my part.  Seems to shoot up/clones around the base every once in a while.  I would love to propagate this, and even move the shrub in time.  It's probably about 8ft and deciduous. (in the UK South East).  I think I've spotted one in a formal garden.  So these are or were probably en vogue at one point.  Either way, every garden should have one, it's pretty boring beyond the flowers, but worth it for them.

    Yes Viburnum sp.
    Maybe Viburnum Carlcephalum?
    Be careful they can be grafted onto Viburnum opulus.
    If side shoot leaves are different..... then they must be removed asap.

    I agree it's a Viburnum. It could be Viburnum Carlesii. But difficult to tell with the leaves on your photo. It could also be Viburnum Juddii.

    Thanks @Borderline, the flowers are whiter without the pink flush.  I think it is as @Silver surfer suggests. 

    So many great Viburnums.  I remember reading that Monty had no want for them.  How wrong he is!  Big up the Viburnums!  Smell that lovely sweet scent.  Gorgeous.

    Could I drastically rejuvenate this shrub?  It is a very lop-sided, and getting a bit lost into an overreaching hawthorn.  A propagated clone elsewhere could take its place in time as an alternative option.

    There are some really wonderful Viburnum ..
    Starting with those that flower on bare wood in winter..Dawn. Charles Lamont.etc
    Then there are the fab scented flowering ones .
    Some have interesting buds.
    Some have good autumn colour.
    Best of all are the autumn berry ones...eg.

    1.  Viburnum setigerum.
    2.  Viburnum betulifolium.
    3.  Viburnum opulus xanthocarpum

    Yum yum!  The wayfaring trees have those gorgeous red jelly berries.  Got to get me some more viburnums.

    The rootstock was pretty vibrant on this plant - not opulus - looks like the wayfaring tree but it isn't it.  I tried transplanting it during the dormant season.  But it was soo large that I had to hack it down to nothing and just left some of the root stock, I was hoping that if it got a foot in I could later hack the bottom and it might re-sprout above the graft.  But it seems to just be hanging in there.  To be fair it has made four or five months with barely any root.  I drastically trimmed the root ball.  Figure I might lose this one.
