Red rose ID

Hi Can anyone ID red rose from below pic - it seems to be coming into bud now and is doing nicely against my fence - hoping it will grow well there. I think it’s quite common as noticed it in a couple of other people’s gardens. Thanks!

Really difficult to say without seeing a bloom WP.

Is it a repeat flowerer or once only? Single flower form with stamens or double/multi-petalled? Does it have hips and what do they look like? If it was single flowered with prominent stamens, once flowering and has hips, a totally wild guess, judging by the foliage, maybe something like Rosa Moyesii Geranium. Better to post another pic when a bloom is fully open!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
  • Many thanks Nollie - I grew from bare root last year so not sure re repeat flowering - I’ll send a pic when in flower! WP

One of the Rugosas... possibly Rosa rugosa 'Hansa' or 'Roseraie de l'Hay'...

  • You were right Marlorena (of course!)...I think it’s Roseraie de l’Hay 😊 many thanks!
