poppy advice

I'm trying to grow poppies they germinate fine get to about an inch tall then keel over and die please help.

    Poppy seeds are best sprinkled direct on the soil.
    They’re  not keen on being potted up.   They like dry compost so maybe you’ve got them too wet. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
