Crocosmia Lucifer

Can I plant crocosmia lucifer in partial shade and is it as invasive as Monbretia (the orange flower)?

    yes and no  :)

    It tends to clump - and the clumps can get big if you don't divide it regularly, but it's not especially prone to self seeding. It may migrate but it won't gallop off

    Thank you all for putting my mind at rest.  I was lucky enough to be given some corms as an Easter present (can't eat chocolate), so had some really nice gardening presents instead - much nicer.  The orange version certainly does spread and so far I have only planted Lucifers in sunken pots so they are well contained.  I want to try planting these new corms unrestricted in our bog garden or under a big tree which is semi shaded.
