  • There was a mix of everything really stones, sticks, little purple plastic bead, and glass fragments, oh and also that rose thorn that must have been sticking through the bag when i lifted it froLyn said:
Were they actual stones, or what we call ‘stones’ hard bits that can be broken up with your fingers?

m the shop as got a nasty wee prick to the finger 😢 i only bought it as Husband had said that he read it got a good review from which magazine😱 I'll go back to the big bags from the local garden centre from now on

A good reason to make our own compost from peelings, cut grass etc at least you know what goes in it.

My own compost is weedy but they're my weeds.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

  • This is my last pic on this, glass shard which i picked out the raised bed this morning. I'll never ever buy this compost again.  Who knew gardening could be such a risky past time 😱

The lidl compost bags have a warning to wear thick gloves when handling the compost so they must know that there is a possibility of glass and nails being present in the bags. While I have come across small blunt pieces of glass I've never seen anything as deadly looking as that shard.

I never buy compost that has been 'enriched with recycled materials' (as they often put it) as like others have found, it's got all sorts of rubbish in it from people's garden waste.

I used to buy Levingtons, but now I buy Grow Wise which is very good stuff.

Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
  • I know right! My veg is going to come out sliced and diced in this compost 😂😂

Thanks for the info i've never even thought to read the blurb on the bags but will know from now on to avoid enriched with recyclables

I think that needs to be taken to some authority, it’s very dangerous.
