Newly potted olive tree wilting - Please help!

Hello everyone, I've just recently repotted an olive tree I bought online and it's quickly gone from looking healthy to drooping some of its leaves... This was a replacement for another olive tree which appeared to have died. I think my mistake might have been to reuse some of the same soil and I see there are some fungal diseases which can cause these symptoms. Thought I would seek out some expertise on here so would be very grateful for any advice!

If possible, please post a picture of the Olive shrub right now. Where have you left the pot? It is possible, your plant may be adjusting to being grown in a different surrounding. Very often, plants are kept in much warmer areas and it's possible, they need to be kept very close to a southerly wall and away from cold winds.

The soil also needs to be a loam-based soil. John Innes No2 with added grit to help with drainage.
  • Thanks Borderline, You can see in this photo the wilting I'm talking about. It's currently on my balcony which receives a fair bit of sun, and I wouldn't have thought it's that cold at the moment. I'm worried the reused multi purpose compost might be the source of the problem... And do you think the fact the last plant completely died has anything to do with this? Many thanks for your thoughts!

It looks fine, may be a little too lush for a plant grown outdoors at this time of year. I wouldn't re-use the multi-purpose compost myself, but don't feel it will have caused too much issue.

Don't over water them too much at this time of year, just once to help them settle into the new pot. The stems may straighten out in a more sunnier day, but if not, I would prune it off.

I still believe your plant is just adjusting to the colder outdoors. It may not seem cold to you and me, but if that plant had been in an area with no wind and surrounded by static warm air, they may wilt even with a blast of wind, but eventually they will adjust.
  • Great, thanks so much! I'll keep an eye on it.
