Adblocker

Not a garden related query, but I'm getting so fed up with the pop-ups on the forum, it makes my eyes go all funny. Can anyone tell me please if I install an adblocker on this my laptop with Windows 10 and my laptop is synchronised with my old desktop computer running on an older Windows system (can't remember which off-hand), would it also install on the desktop or interfere in any way?  Secondly is it free or do you have to buy a download. You can probably tell I'm not that computer literate!  Many thanks.

I use adblocker plus. Free to download and works a treat.

I use Avast on mine Lizzie, and it's free, although they're always wanting you to upgrade.
It shouldn't interfere with your other computer, but I don't know if it would automatically load onto it though.

I don't think it would Lizzie. You'd need to download it onto your PC separately.
If it's running a very old version of Windows it may not be compatible, but it would tell you that when you tried to install it.

Thanks folks, that's want I needed to know. I've also got Avast,  Fairygirl but it doesn't stop the pop-ups on here so perhaps I need to click on something?

Yesterday all the ads starting appearing on here, Youtube and Facebook. So I removed adblock plus and reinstalled it, no further problem

There should be a ‘pop ups’ in your settings somewhere, I can’t remember exactly how to access it,  I have used a laptop for years.

Adblock Plus and Ghostery do a pretty good job for me !

I've been using Adblock Plus, but there are issues with it since the latest update to Firefox.  Adblock doesn't retain its settings after a restart so it's necessary to go into it and put them all back in again.  I have also tried Adguard which I thought was free, but it's only a limited time trial so that will be removed shortly.

Interesting!  I'll have a go tomorrow on the laptop. Currently on the desktop as OH has commandeered the living room and is listening to the Beatles.
