Any idea what variety this one is? It is a fairly pure white with distinctive rounded leaves. Flowers mid-May. It has been in the garden for decades and is around 2 metres tall.
After going snow blind looking at white rhodies on t'interweb I think it might be Loderi King Ģeorge AGM. A hybrid created by Sir Edmund Loder in Horsham so nearly local to me. I will try to propagate some more from this and it looks like there may be a few self layered shoots already rooted so there's my next garden project.
I've been there before as it is nearby but also very dangerous to the wallet I am gradually filling the slope in front of the house with their plants. The King George would be a bit too big for that unless we want to hide the house.
Leaves look very far from round in above pics..they look distinctly elongated... much narrower than long. There are many hundreds of Rhododendron sp as well as even more named hybrids and cultivars. Even Rhodo experts have trouble to id them accurately.
