Floppy pulmonaria

Hi all,

I have a pulmonaria 'raspberry splash' which is looking a bit floppy. It has sort of all just flopped over to one side so the flowers are lying on the ground. Just wondering if this is normal? It has only been in a year and is in a shady damp spot. I've given it some water but the soil wasn't really dry anyway. The one next to it looks upright and healthy. I remember it drooping a bit last year when we had the really warm weather but watering perked it up then.

Hi Julia, is it possible for you to post a photo please ?
My Blue Ensign flops when it's finished flowering (not the leaves but the flowering shoots), but yours sounds different , like the whole plants flops even as it flowers ?

It might be worth digging it up to see if something's eating the roots... vine weevil grubs are a possibility.  They are small cream-coloured c-shaped grubs with brown heads.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

i This is it on the right... When I dig about I get lots of leatherjackets and the occasional cream grubby thing but the one on the left seems unaffected.

@Julia1983 when you say "cream grubby thing"do they look like this ? If so, they are vine weevil grubs, which would explain the collapse of the plant.

They were longer and thinner? I'll try and take it up tonight and have a better look. What can I do about them?  :/

You can buy nematodes to treat them, l have just used them to treat my plants in pots and you can also apply them to plants in the ground. When you dig it up, if there is very little root left, my money would be on them. It's possible that they were brought in with the plant, that can happen.
