Cerinthe problem

Hiya,
I’ve grown some Cerinthe from seed and I’d really like to get them out in the garden. They have been hardened off, but every time I put them in the sun, they wilt! I grew them for a sunny spot so not sure what to do. I did wonder if they have got a bit leggy as I keep putting them back in the shade and maybe the roots aren’t developed enough to support the amount of top growth, as the roots are not quite filling the pots. Should I pinch them out and pot them on, or sow some seed direct where I want them to grow, putting these plants somewhere shady lol!?

    They seem very leggy to me, so they will tend to collapse.
    Pinching the tops out might help.

    Ok thanks. I will give them a hair cut- I’ve not grown them before. I’m wondering if I should cut my losses and resow some outside... 😬

    Can I add, I agree that they need to be planted out, watered well for a week or two until the establish.  Do pinch the tops, that will help them to bush up and you will get a more substantial plant.  The picture shows some cerinthe that have seeded in my garden and are already in flower.  There is probably two plants here.  The bees love the flowers.

    Thanks. I’ve pinched them all out and will plant later in the week as we have rain forecast for a few days so might give them some relief. I’ve also sown some more in pots outside just in case! I planted one in its position and within half an hour it was completely wilted and floppy! Think I will just sow in situ next time! 😬
