Carex

Hiya all,
This largish Carex has been potted as a specimen for a couple years and has been quite happy with vigorous growth, but which now looks dry and dead. 
It has not been previously pruned in the 3 or 4 years that I have had it. Should I be cutting it back to allow regereration or something?

Just another day at the plant...

    usually I'd wear some stout gloves and "comb" through them pulling out loose, old stems.

    I would take it out of the pot and divide it and replant a good piece.Give it a haircut and a water.
    Unless it is dead it should be OK.

    I agree with @Hostafan1 and @madpenguin 👍 

    Dont forget that the natural habitat of the Carex family is damp and boggy moorland type places so they do best if they don’t dry out. 😊  

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
