Rhodo looking unwell

This outdoor Rhodo in Nova Scotia seems decidedly brown unlike the other one in my yard. Can I fertilize with something. Should I aerate roots?

    I would be inclined to think that plant is dead .

    Pretty sure also that is dead, try scraping a little of the bottom of the main stem, see if it is green, if its all brown, its dead.Guessing its pretty cold in winter where you are.
