Climber suggestions for front of the house

Hello!

I would really appreciate some suggestions on a suitable climber for the front of my house, which is south-is facing.

- Low (really low) maintenance
- Evergreen (if possible)

I would love flowers etc but I can't think what would be low maintenance and the above! 

Currently have a clematis montana which needs to go (hacked at to reduce size last year... its very ugly at the moment, half a mass of dead foliage and a few stems of flowers)

    Take a look at Akebia quinata ; usually evergreen in mild Winters . Unfortunately not self-clinging so would need assistance . Reddish/purple flowers in mid-summer .

    Hydrangea serratifolia can be a good plant , but can be thirsty ! Like its cousin H. petiolaris , I THINK this is self clinging  . Evergreen too !

    Forgot to mention, Im looking for something that doesn't spread too much either.

    If it's south facing it should be warm enough for Star Jasmine. White very perfumed flowers and evergreen.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I agree, Star Jasmine is top of my choice. I think wall trained shrubs can be low maintenance once the shrub has been trained over a 3-4 year period.

    Take a look at Coronilla Valentina Subsp. Glauca 'Citrina'. Only growing to around 2-3 meters if trained against the wall. Numerous scented pale yellow flowers smothering the shrub throughout the winter and spring months. Abelia Floribunda although semi-evergreen, has a lovely loose habit with plenty of deep pink flowers over the summer months. Both unlikely to take over your front area, and unlikely to exceed 3 meters.

    Thank you Borderline for your suggestions!  Your other suggestions look great too, but I am leaning towards the jasmine as I love white flowers.
