Ashamed to say I’ve never noticed yours Hosta  (Bay tree that is)
heres mine, I cut the top out of it every so often,  it’s not a tree I like, I just use it for cooking.
My garden’s quite wild, cutting things to shape just doesn’t suit.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Having a closer inspection of the bay tree, it's got loads of trunks so lollipop is out of the question. Hosta Man, what tool do you use to make such a beautiful shape? No lollipop but  an Easter egg?
Have had a fab day in the garden, need to remove a tree trunk, any tips?

I usually cut it  as soon as the birds have moved out . I used to do it all with a pair of secateurs, but now I use a pair of shears, and a step ladder.
