penstemon propagation

I have a penstemon stem that has rooted where it rests on the ground. Roots very shallow at the moment. Do I remove and pot it now or should I wait a bit?

Sometimes they'll root in a glass of water. I found this when a stem got accidentally mixed in with some penstemon which sometimes root in water too.

In London. Keen but lazy.
