Pruning Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna 'Purple Stem'

I would like to put this in my small front garden.  The size it will probably grow to will be Height 1.2m, spread 2m.  To fit, I need it to be more like 1m wide.  Can I do that with careful pruning or will that kill the bush off?

They sucker, the spread unless you buy a huge one will take time so no need to worry for a couple of years about the two metres spread.
As they sucker you can dig or pull out/off any wayward bits. They are quite tough plants :)
I keep ours which is probably twenty years old, to a 40 to 50 cm by 30 ish width. brutally pulling and digging lumps off. It deserves better treatment it is so nice...
  • Thanks so much Rubytoo - I am totally reassured and look forward to watching my plant grow.  Much appreciated advice. :)
