Lupins and Delphiniums.

If you have Lupins and or Delphiniums being planted out now or have planted them out,..Snails and Slugs will be eager to munch them down to the base. If you have laid down Safe Snail and Slug Pellets before Spring then most will have departed and all you need now is a spray of 'Neem Oil and Liquid Soap',..a Tablespoon of each in a Litre of tepid water,..the latter just to disperse the oil,..the mix is safe to use on all plants,..safe with Children,..Pets and Wildlife.
The Safe Snail and Slug Pellets,..are safe with Children,..Pets and Wildlife as well,.one can get this product on line,..Amazon or Garden Suppliers,..cost approx £9.
Now is also the time to take Basal cuttings of Lupins and Delphiniums,..cuttings approx 15 cm will do,..these will bloom next year.
Planting Lupins for the first time can be a disaster as the foliage can often turn yellow,..this tends to be a lack of Iron in the soil,..or Lime,..adding Epsom Salts can work to revive the plant by spreading it around the base,..so will Magnesium/Argricultural Limestone/Powdered or Granular Chleated Iron,.. spread around the roots.
