It’ll be fine in a couple of months time ... give yourself a break and a ☕️ and wait for the weather to warm the soil up a bit. Then if it’s still a bit thin you can scatter some seed and it'll germinate quickly 😊
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'd agree with Dove. Unless you're trying to produce a lawn that's the standard of a bowling green or a golf course, it's not necessary to be overly fussy. Once it's warm enough and wet enough, it'll grow, and then regular mowing will keep it looking good. It's surprising how quickly the grass will come away and thrive. Just don't cut it too short in long hot spells, if you get them, and you can chuck a bit of seed on in May if there are still baldy bits
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Very good advise from James. I am in South east and am waiting to start the procedures on my lawn when the weather gets a bit better towards the end of April (hopefully)
Right now its just dull, coldish and not much rain is forecasted for next 2 weeks.
How's the lawn today, jaffacakes? It is actually very difficult to kill grass so I should imagine your best friend has been all this rain everyone's been getting recently? It would be interesting to see another photo.
Looking a bit better Birdy though lots of yarrow instead of grass in parts. Lots of couch grass parts too. I might try another scarify and reseed in autumn. This photo is from a few weeks ago in glorious sunshine
