Is this couch grass?

  •  will do thank you. I dug some out of the flower border and i threw it on the compost heap!

    If it's couch grass then it's best not put on the compost heap unless yours is on a grand scale - domestic-sized heaps won't get hot enough to kill it and it will regrow when you use the compost, or even in the heap.

    those long white roots in Pansyface's pic are the most distinctive thing about Couch grass. Anything that hasn't got those isn't couch
