Mould on seed potatoes?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. This is our first foray into growing potatoes.

Is this fine roots or mould? Should I bin or plant?

    I'm not sure but think there's something more going on there as the tips have died. Are all your spuds like this one or just the one photographed.

    Can you post a picture of the whole tray. The spuds themselves look quite healthy.

    My chiited potatoes were planted around Mid Feb onwards in staggered planting 2 weeks apart. I think you expect a bit of shrivelling .. Root hairs are normal you are just late planting them..  Excellent reply by Pansface.. :|

    Thanks everyone. The weather up here has been pretty unsettled so we had waited but they are in the ground now.
