Overgrown Cyprus Sedge

My pond is totally overgrown with Cyprus Sedge and as it is now spring,  is it too late to prune? Will I kill it off? I’ve recently moved here and taken over this small pond.....Help!!

    I had to Google that one and found Cyperus Sedge = Carex pseudocyperus
    If it's anything like the similarly invasive Carex pendula you can cut it back when you like but watch out for frogs etc hiding in there

    Thanks for that, will do. Have seen rather large frog residing in there so will be extra careful....as long as it doesn't Jump out at me!!
