Spotted this today and remembered the recommendation!

£4.99 isn't bad for a 2L when I'd seen them online for similar prices for a 9cm pot

I like Penstemon 'schoenholzen' - I like the slightly deeper red than 'Garnet'. So., they renamed it 'in remembrance of someone' - garnet was easier. I also have 'white bedder' which is very vigorous and free flowering.

Thats a brilliant price, Mr VE, yep, I paid around that for 9cm from an online nursery, they got mildew, three withered, three are hanging on, including the worst looking one. Hope you are feeling suitably smug  :)

I'd also recommend Salvia Blue Bouquetta if you want a floripherous, upright and compact salvia with bright blue flowers. Have planted three is small urns and they look great.

Today I bought one each of Penstemon Arctic Fox and Firebird. £3 each, big healthy looking plants and flowering.

  • @Mr. Vine Eye Did you get the Penstemon from BM like the Salvia or elsewhere? That seems like a good price

I can agree wholeheartedly with anyone recommending the "Raven"... it is stunningly beautiful :) and pretty hardy too. I've just reordered mine for the 'new' garden (after a year of building work, I have my garden back!).

Has anyone heard of the white salvia 'snow angel'? Picked it up at B and Q but can't find any details online. It's quite pretty and took some cuttings hoping it will strike easy.
