Should I remove these berries?

BerkleyBerkley Posts: 431

I love my nandina - especially when its brilliant red berries are still there in March! They look so good with the photinia, tulips and developing bracts on the pieris ... But surely they shouldn't still be there in the Spring? They have been there since early last Autumn. Do you think I should remove them?

Any effort the plant put into making those is over so if you like them leave them.

  • Do the birds eat them? If so leave them, if not let the plant decide what to do with them.

I agree, they are not doing any harm and look nice, so enjoy them while they last. Mine are now beginning to drop off and yours probably will shortly.
