Grains on rose leaves

Good morning. Can anyone tell me what the little white grains are on the tops of my rose leaves? They aren’t completely uniform in size but are a couple of millimetre-ish and are spread randomly over the top side of the leaves. They are only on the rose bushes with glossy leaves. I thought at first they were small drops of dew, but they are actually hard grains. I’m guessing they are eggs but not sure whose eggs....
any ideas??

    Worked it out - it’s some sort of sap or bits from a tree - which is close to the glossy leaf roses and further from those with matte leaves. During the day the little bits have become sticky. Not eggs at all! Seemed unlikely given the non-uniform sizes.
