Attracting wildlife

Just in the process of planting up our borders ready for the summer and keen to attract wildlife, particularly to keep the bees and butterflies happy. Any experts out there that can recommend the best border plants for the job, that will look 'wild' without looking too messy and overgrown!

The RHS has a list of plants for pollinators which you can find here - https://www.rhs.org.uk/science/conservation-biodiversity/wildlife/plants-for-pollinators  There are three versions to download - garden plants, wildflowers and world.

The most important thing for wildlife is what you don't do:  no pesticides, no weedkiller and not too much tidying up.

I really like stachys bysantina (lambs ear) it looks great and is nice and tactile if you plant it by the path but it's also really popular with carder bees who like to harvest the fluff off the leaves as well as visiting the flowers.
