Seedlings friend or foe?

Long shot but does anyone know what these seedlings are ? At first I thought they might be a weed but now I've looked at the remains of the seed I think I recognise them from one of my plants last year . I had a whole host of unidentified plants in that area of the garden last year mostly yellow flowers and possibly some sort of daisy . The seedlings do look like sunflowers but I don't think the cases do. Any ideas?

The seeds in the top left of the picture look like marigold Calendula officinalis.  Don't know about the other seed.  The first two leaves of a seedling are always a very simple shape and look pretty much like every seedling.  If you can show us a seedling that has some true leaves, we'll have much idea.
  • Strong possibility they are marigolds  thanks
  • Sorry don't know why photo of them in situ is so small, will try again but I do think those who said marigold are right so will leave them be
