Can anyone please identify this moss/weed that is taking over?

Hi All, I have done several searches on the internet to identify this stuff but it does not help when one doesn't know which key-words to use. Is it a weed, a moss, a clover.......?

    Mind your own business.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Thanks both.
I had come across that name during my search but it was this statement that made me think I had the wrong weed : "The overall height is a mere 5cm (2in) but spread is indefinite", as mine is just hugging the ground or the wood it is on.

    At the moment
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • I had noticed that it went black after treatment of the lawn with lawn-feed with moss killer (granular type). The lawn-feed had a salty/garlic odour and I assumed it was that that killed it, but it soon recovered. I seem to remember it became resilient to the lawn-feed and wasn't as affected after the second and subsequent treatments.
