Climbers and general plants northern seaside friendly

Windy22Windy22 Posts: 1
Hi All
moved into a new build on the fylde coast across from the sand dunes.
very, very windy with sand and salt in the wind.
Q
i wish to plant climbers onto an arch and also on to a pergola ??
Eveything I have tried to plant seems to fail and I am assuming due to extreme wind and sand damage!
I hope someone out there could offer me some advice on the best climbers in this situation and also general planting in what seems to be a difficult location.
Thanks all

You need windbreaks from salt proof hedges or else fences and/or windbreak fabric.   I would forget climbers for now and stick with low growing plants that can deal with salt and sand and winds.

The RHS offers this advice for coastal plantings - www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=472
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
