Scale insect

So annoyed, I just found that my deciduous Rhodedendron has a scale infestation. I've taken off all the scales with alcohol and sprayed it all over with systemic insecticide for any nymphs.
Hope this works. 

I hate using chemicals but at least there's no bees around it at the moment so hopefully it will be OK. I don't think there is a biological control for this that can be used outside as far as I'm aware.

    Spray with methylated spirits is good.

    Yep, that's what I wiped it down with. Was going to use vodka but then remembered Mr B's garage where all sorts of stuff lurks.
