- There's nothing wrong with a moss lawn if that's what you like. It's very comfortable under foot. - Only remove the moss if you're in for the long haul (improve soil, aerate, reseed the lawn, future moss removal etc). - The active ingredient in moss killers is iron sulphate. This can be bought cheaply on Amazon or eBay etc. - In theory you should kill your moss then scarify a couple of weeks later. I just skip straight to scarifying now and do this annually. Some say you'll spread the moss if you do this, but I don't find it to be a problem. - I scarify in the spring. In theory autumn is best, but I find my lawn doesn't have long enough to recover before the winter (north-facing garden doesn't help) which leads to the growth of more moss! - Scarifying stresses the lawn so only do it when the grass is growing well i.e. needs a weekly cut, or else it will take ages to recover. Mow the lawn low before scarifying. End of April is usually about right. - Be prepared for your lawn to look awful after you scarify. You'll wish you'd never started, but it will recover in a few weeks and then look much healthier for it. - Don't bother scarifying by hand unless your lawn is v small (e.g. less than 20 sq metres). Buy a cheap scarifier for about £70 - they're well worth it as it's a v physical job by hand. - If you treat with moss killer, don't put the moss in your compost bins - it's acidic and worms don't like it.
@sim209 - If you shameless spammers concentrated your efforts on something more worthwhile, especially considering the current world situation, maybe we wouldn't dislike you all so much
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

You are right, I will shut down my blog that is aimed at helping people with gardening and start work on a vaccine straight away
Good. In future - pay for your adverts on the site
If you were that interested in helping folk with their gardens - you would have started a proper thread instead of dredging up one that's a year old too. The mods obviously thought so too, which is why you've been removed.
