Tree Identification

Hello!

Having lived in a terrace house with a yard for many years we have recently purchased a house with a garden which for us is very exciting. However, we are a little naive!

There is a tree in the garden and I was wondering if anybody would please be able to identify it for me? I have attached some photographs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks

It looks a bit like a willow to me, but don't ask me which one, I'm still to get my head around the different sorts!
  • Thanks DampGardenMan! I did a bit of research and thought it might have been a willow but I really wasnt sure and likewise I'm still trying to get my head around all the different types!

We viewed the house in October last year and although not a great picture this is what it looked like with leaves on.

In the last pic of the first post, that flower (catkin) is a Willow, is that part of the tree you are asking about?

  • Hi nutcutlet, thank you for responding. Yes, it's from the tree I am asking about. I tried to get a close up photo of the buds/flowers from a lower section of branch but it didn't come out too well sorry!

Would you know what type of willow tree it could be?

    Many thanks

Looks a bit like our sallow.  Is it bearing catkins?  Snap another pic if so.  And get close ups including leaf.

I have my doubts that it may be a willow, the leaves of which tend to be long and arrow-like. Certainly our White Willow had much different leaves. You need to get you camera/phone much much closer to the leaves and catkins to give us a fighting chance, and keep taking images until you get some in focus then you'll get a successful response.
