Onion Seedlings

I have 4 raised beds against my garden fence of which I transplanted onion seedlings clumps, lettuce and spinach seedlings into 3 of them and covered with fleece a week ago. The 4th is my strawberries bed. However the heavy wind we had last week  damaged the fence panels and posts which means they need replacing. I have been told by the labourer that I will need to move the beds in order for them to get access to do the job, this is a 1 day job.

What are the chances of killing the seedlings if I move them at this stage. I am not overly worried about the lettuce and spinach, I can easily start another batch, but the onions and strawberries plant worries me.

Please advice.

Just bumping up your thread @seyfades if you haven't already got an answer.
  • Hi seyfades,
Given you only planted them a week ago, I would say that you should be fine to move them out of the bed and then re-plant them, as they are unlikely to have made any significant growth in that time. I guess you will need to 'house' them in a temporary bed (akin to heeling a bareroot plant in) and will need to be careful not to damage them and to retain as much of the original root. And then when you replant them, just make sure you water them in well. But that's just my opinion, and one given without seeing the beds and plants...
    kind regards
