Club moss death terrarium
Hi, I have an enclosed high humidity terrarium. My Gloden Club moss is getting some mushy dark leaves that spreads and eventually leads to death. I’ve had no luck at all with this plant, replaced it several times and in different terrariums, even though it’s meant to be easy. I have made the terrarium with drainage, charcoal, spagham, fibro mesh, well draining soil. The humidity is high, there are drips from leaves, but the soil is moist. Is it too high, is it from the sand getting too wet. I’m at a loss.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I’m in Australia, and we’re just coming out of summer. Still in mid 20s (degree Celsius) through the day and 15-17 over night.
Just a thought ... I know you’ve had some high temps this summer ... perhaps it’s been too hot?
or even could the glass have acted like a lens and scorched the moss if the sunlight got to it?
Another thought is, have you looked for any fora specializing in terraria? It’s a bit of a niche subject :-)

i have just removed another dead one, the soil does not feel nearly as moist as what I thought it would be considering the condensation on the glass.
i am replanting again, not giving up, I will water in, leave the top off for a few days, check soil and then replace lid. Hmmmm
