Hello. I am restricted to growing as much as I can in pots and have been given a Deutzia Raspberry Sundae. Could someone please advice what soil to use for this plant?
What a lovely shrub, I'd not seen that one before. There's some info here from the RHS which indicates they're not fussy about soil conditions. I don't have any deutzia, but would imagine that a John Innes no.2 or 3 compost would suit. I'd use a mix of roughly 60% JI 2 or 3, 20% ordinary multi-purpose compost and 20% grit just to open up the JI and let it breathe a bit. You may know, but John Innes compost is not a brand but a recipe and various brands are available at most garden centres.

I have a Deutzia Raspberry Sunda in a container for a second year and while plenty of lush leaves no flowers at all or any sign of any arriving. Am I doing something wrong?
