My carrots and spring onions have been pretty hopeless too. Fingers crossed for this year. I've sown both under fleece a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting for them to emerge.
Hoping to plant out my seedling carrots, but they are so small hardly a true leaf between them. Will also sow direct to give succession in gritty soil thanks @Lizzie27 and @Pete.8 with a cover to keep cats and pigeon off.
I feel your joy @josusa47 After many years of failure and disappointment I had lovely carrots last year, I felt so good! I selected various good ideas from this forum and sowed them in a raised bed, in a 4" trench filled with 3" playsand (on the basis that it would be 'clean') and topped up with garden compost. Then I ignored them.
They got water in the dreadful heat but no thinning until they were fairly big (I was too scared) and this was the result...........
Crossing my fingers for you as it does feel like a great achievement, Oh and they tasted like nectar!

Hahaha... not much, the grounds are free from Starbucks. I get about 20kg a week and give it away to other plot holders
reckon I’ve put over 500kg on my plot in 12 months
Out of 3 rows of chaternay carrots I have a grand total of 1 seedling. Do I win the worst at carrots award?
