  It has very deep roots so, if you don't want it, be sure to dig all of the roots out assuming it has only appeared in the last year or two.  If it's older than that you'll probably never get all the roots out so it will keep coming back but if you keep pulling up any new shoots it will eventually give up.  I allow one patch to grow in a 'wild' area though as the bees seem to love it.

  I've just taken on a new garden after a house move and it's over run with this plant. Obviously well established as the roots have been around 1 - 2 feet deep. Even little seedlings have a root around 2 inches. I've been digging it out for over a week now and have filled 2 brown bins. Today I half filled a rubble tub just with seedlings. Weed killer doesn't touch it either. Its horrendous. My advice would be to get rid before it seeds or itll be everywhere!

  Agree with everything Bobthegardener says - it's a thug: the roots go down, down down and snap off when you try to pull them up, and it broadcasts tons of seeds, but the bees absolutely love it so I leave a small patch, dig them up regularly and take the seed pods off before they do their thing.
