Dead heading hyacinths and tulips

  • I only had approx a dozen hyacinths to dead head, so did half of them today and the rest still have a few flowers on them.  The daffs take 10 minutes or so each day to deadhead - we have over 200 of them in total.  The grape hyacinths have been left, although sometime I sprinkle the dead head (seeds?) around the garden - we have 100's of them.  It is interesting to read all the replies here - I have gathered that it doesn't really matter whether I do or don't deadhead as long as I leave the leaves to die naturally and then give the bulbs a good feed and water.  Sometimes they are repotted in the Autumn, and other years I leave them to it without any intervention.  Thanks everyone.
