Photinia Hedge

Hi. This hedge has been going strong for about 6 years but one of them seems to be dying, any ideas of how it could possibly be saved? Thank you

Can you see any sign of pests or diseases?  I can't see anything on the photo, just yellowing/browning leaves.  Could that one be in a pocket of poorer soil than the others and be suffering the effects of last year's drought?  Try making sure it doesn't go short of water, and see if it starts to grow some new shoots.
Also, scratch test - gently scrape a bit of the bark on the poorly plant - if it's green/white and moist under the bark, that branch is still alive and could grow new leaves.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

As Jenny says, it's difficult to tell from the photo,  but photinias can suffer from leaf spot, where the leaves get dark red or black spots and eventually fall off. I think that's usually more to do with dampness and humidity problems. You can prune them back but l wouldn't do that until May, and hopefully new growth will appear. Try the scratch test as she suggests.
